I think I have designed and created over 50 chore charts.. and thats on the low side of estimation.
I decided I needed something really simple and came across this.
You can use paper plates.. I used construction paper. I know I will need to make adjustments
I took the chores we had already had assigned and added a few that weren't. I came up with 11 and the spacing needed 12. So I made a free space.
The chores are as follows:
these chores are done 3x day- 15 min chore
Kitchen: wash table, chairs, counters, sweep
Living Room: Clear off couches, pick of floor and sweep
Bathroom: clean counters, wipe toilet, sweep floor
School Room: Put away supplies, sweep
Mud Room/Family Closet: make sure clothes, coats, shoes etc are put up, sweep
Dishes: wash dishes, put away clean ones
these are the done as needed chores
Van: cleaning out the inside of the van as needed
Trash: take out trash, put a new bag in
Laundry: take laundry from dryer and help fold towels
Porch: Keep back porch clean and free of clutter
Dinner: Prepare dinner or help prepare dinner depending on age.
I have the chores divided in to partner teams.
Jacob 12 and Ezra 9 mos ( he is there for support :) )
Quinten 10 and Urijah 2
Abigail 8 and Olivia 4
Isaac 7 and Zachary 5
( as I was typing this I realized all the partner ages =12)
The chart can be rotated as you wish.. I think I will rotate it daily for now.
I was JUST looking at this same Chore Chart on Smockity Frocks website! Such a cool idea! Now, where are my paper plates...or maybe I'll just use cardstock! LOL

What a ingenius idea!!! Now....to figure out how to print this off :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I love how you separated the kids into teams with an older one and a younger one. Everyone gets to help and feel important. (The ages adding up to 12 is pretty neat, too!)
ReplyDeleteThats an awesome idea Nicole! You will need to add more spokes later, tho! Lol!
ReplyDeleteUpdated wheel a bit and its now laminated. The free space is now "Mail" as there were arguments over who got to check the mail. I also rearranged the order of some of the chores, just to streamline a bit better. But its working out great.
