The Homestead Journal ~ Week 63~ Back to our Normal Weirdness

Homestead Happenings
Sunday, with a strong prompting from the spirit, I took the chance and drove to church. I figured if I was to be fined for driving without registration, so be it. My obedience is to God, not the State. ( read more here.)

Monday was a crazy, long day, emotional day. I wrote a blog on that too.
Tuesday we worked on getting our lives back to normal. But it started off rough. I had to drop Joe off at court, go to the library to print our insurance cards, but I forgot my password and was locked out., and then I somehow locked myself out of my email to get the new password. In a panic, time is ticking, finally I had to call the insurance company and have them send it to my other email. Got the cards and raced back to the courthouse. Joe and I then went to register the van. We both got new drivers licenses while we were there, with our current address. The judge honored the deal made, and all is well. We just better make sure we do not go without insurance again, or its 90 days in jail....Remember this when your health insurance is mandatory.. Sometimes I wish pet grooming was mandatory... maybe then I could afford all the other mandatory financial obligations...

Tuesday evening our friends, the Johnsons, were very generous and treated us to dinner at Golden Corrall  My children were fascinated with the chocolate fountain and cotton candy.  Afterwards they came over for some cards and Zachary and Zoiee played games on the computer. We spent a good part of the week just hanging out. an reorganizing the house. The children are doing much better emotionally. Next week I will work in a few raised garden beds.

Friday our friends, the Perez's surprised us. They had told us they were coming up this weekend, but we didn't get a confirmation. She had texted my phone ( that is still locked) and so we were pleasantly surprised when they knocked on our door Friday evening!

Saturday Isaac had his blue and gold banquet. I was so excited for him. This is his second year of scouts, last year his pack leader was inactive so he pretty much did the book on his own.He has earned his Wolf badge He has also earned several belt loops

We are grateful to have our life back to normal. We are very appreciative to those who donated time, food and money to our family. Most importantly we are grateful for those who prayed for our family. It is because of those prayers my husband is back home and is able to wrestle with my little 20 month old who is on his back, slapping his sides and laughing and commanding "go! horsie go!" while I wrap up this blog post.

What We Are Learning About
Olivia has really expressed interest in reading. She comes up to me often and asks "how do I read this" I have learned reading is not something you can teach, so I have just been working on telling her the letter sounds and she figures it out. Hymn books are wonderful as she can practice reading along. She has also been working on math. She has a book she carries with her. She is fascinated with how easy it is. I agree, math is easier to understand. English is confusing. LOL

Jacob got a book of knots, they have all been working on tying, making stuff.
We have been working on ASL again. We slacked the past few months. I was at the store last week and an employee was deaf. I kicked myself for not being able to communicate properly. I should know this by now! ...Quinten is working on a Book of Mormon powerpoint.

I really think I should record Zachary's wit. The things he says, the way he thinks, is just entertaining and enlightening. Today on the way home, Joe reminded everyone of the routine when we got home. Zachary said, "Your going to have to tell me again in two seconds dad, my memory is like a goldfish"... the child just cracks me up.

Our Adventures
I worked on Wednesday and Friday this week, here are some photos.Wednesday, Joe brought the boys had young mens and cub scouts, Thursday we ran a few errands, got 5 of them their Book~It pizza's. We stopped at the park, hoping to burn their energy before the library, but they just ended up muddy. So Jacob and I went in real quick and grabbed some books and did our returns.
