The Homestead Journal ~ Week 19~ Part Time Job

What's New In Our Life
Well I started back grooming at this adorable little shop in Bowling Green. I work Friday and Saturday's. It will be a nice little part time job for me. I was a little nervous after a year off, but it went very smoothly!

Homestead Happenings
Monday we began our new vocabulary lessons. I found a great student dictionary and decided all children who can read will work through it. We started with the breakdown of identifying the parts of the definition. The children will record the word they feel inspired to record. We also began planting our garden. We are doing square sections instead of rows. Tuesday we attempted a solar cooker. We started it late in the day and we tried again on Wednesday.. We need to find out why its not absorbing the heat well. We did all our weekly chores on Wednesday this week as it was very chilly. We wanted to free up our sunny days.

Our Adventures
We had a wonderful Resurrection Sunday at church. It was obvious tho, who had Easter candy before church. We took went out to the park and out to grab ice cream sandwiches.. We tried banana split flavor!

On Our Bokshelf
Oh so much our list is long. But we have been doing losts of reading.

  1. Well, if you started it late in the day, that's probably why it did not absorb the heat well! It IS solar!

  3. I agree with Tesha. Your banner is so cute! I like it. I like the idea of using a square garden. Tell me how it works, okay? I know corn should be done that way, but it seems to make sense to do it all that way.

  4. I love your blog! Thanks so much for visiting mine so I could find this one.

We too are planting a garden (though in our green house) and we love to harvest what we have worked on with our own two hands. So much fun for our daughter!

    Have a blessed weekend!
